Michael Chinn, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
“We can’t correct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.” This is my approach to counseling that life is often uncontrollable, but we can control how we respond, how we communicate, and how we navigate through complex social/personal/professional issues. I work primarily with teens, young adults, college students, and adults on a variety of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, suicide/suicidality, personality disorders, and career/workplace stressors. My specific counseling approach is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and person-centered therapy. Professionally, I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC), graduating from Duquesne University with a masters in clinical mental health counseling. I have worked previously at the Services for Teens at Risk (STAR) program, helping teens, young adults, and college students with suicidal thoughts/ideation. Personally, I was born in Columbus, Ohio, but now reside with my wife and child and have lived in Pittsburgh for over 10 years. I enjoy video gaming, reading science fiction/mysteries, playing with our family dog, and spending time with my wife and child. I’m excited to meet you and help you navigate through life's challenges.
