Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects communication and social interaction. Individuals with ASD may have difficulty understanding social cues, expressing themselves, and forming relationships. They may also have repetitive behaviors, difficulties with sensory processing, and intense interests in specific subjects.

The counselors at Good Thoughts understand the unique needs of individuals with Autism and are trained to provide a safe and supportive environment. They use a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Social Skills Training (SST) to help individuals with autism improve their communication, social interaction and overall quality of life.

ABA is a form of therapy that focuses on changing specific behaviors. It uses a scientific approach to understanding how behavior works and how it can be changed, and it is considered as the most effective evidence-based practice for individuals with Autism. SST is a type of therapy that helps individuals with autism improve their social skills and interactions with others. This therapy can be done individually or in a group setting and it focuses on teaching social skills, such as starting a conversation, maintaining eye contact, and understanding body language.
