Licensed Professional Counselor

Hi, please call me Mandy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couples, and family therapy. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marshall University. My experience includes 7+ years in the mental health field working with various emotional and behavioral disorders including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, attachment/trauma, and PTSD. Previously, I had worked as a Special Education Teacher in an alternative school providing emotional support, behavioral management, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care and techniques.

I use a strength-based approach to focus on building a strong therapeutic alliance and providing a safe space for thoughts and feelings to be shared. Building connections with clients and families is key to effective and successful outcomes in treatment, an area I strive to focus on. My primary modalities of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Therapeutic/Crisis Intervention, and Structural Family Therapy. Areas of focus include anger, self-esteem, self-advocacy/setting healthy boundaries, stress management, grief/loss, gender identity issues, suicidal risks/self-harm, family systems, conflict resolution, and parent skill building.

My husband and I have a large, blended family, sharing 8 children together. We also have a dog and a cat, as I am an avid animal lover. My favorite thing to do is cheer our kids on in sports and support them through the ups and downs of life. Things that also bring me joy include: my spiritual faith, spending quality time with family and friends, music I can sing and dance to, and relaxation/self-care activities.
