Whether you’ve experienced a traumatic event, are navigating a life transition, or need help better understanding yourself and what’s holding you back, Dr. Mastruserio wants to work with you to overcome challenges and be your best self. Dr. Mastruserio graduated with her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Susan completed her APA-Accredited internship at the University of Pittsburgh, where she worked with survivors of sexual assault and trauma. Her dissertation focused on the psychological well-being of women struggling with infertility, a topic close to her heart. In addition, she spent time working with young adults and helped to develop and run an Intensive Outpatient Program for those struggling with severe depression, anxiety and suicidality. Her areas of clinical expertise include depression and anxiety, life transitions and stressors, sexual assault and trauma, young adults, and relationship distress. Specifically, Dr. Mastruserio enjoys integrating the therapeutic modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT). She describes herself as a compassionate person that enjoys baking, reading to excess, and well-placed sarcasm.
